What the scanner finds

One scan. Every leak.

The scanner runs across all of these categories in a single pass. No category is optional — you get the full report every time.

01
Forgotten subscriptions
Recurring charges for services you haven't touched in months.
02
Duplicate services
Two or more active subscriptions in the same category — Spotify and Apple Music, for example.
03
Price creep
Services quietly charging more than when you first signed up, often without notice.
04
Auto-renewal traps
Annual charges and post-trial step-ups that renewed without you realising.
05
Dormant direct debits
Direct debits still pulling money from accounts you've long stopped using.
06
Suspicious payments
Double charges, anomalous amounts, and merchants known for dark-pattern billing.
07
Credit card interest
Exact interest paid over the scan period, annualised so you see the true annual cost.
08
Dark pattern merchants
Services that make cancellation deliberately difficult — like Adobe and LinkedIn Premium.
09
Gambling spend
All wagering platforms detected — Sportsbet, TAB, Bet365, Neds, and more. Total annualised with a link to Gambling Help Online.
10
Cash & ATM withdrawals
ATM and cash withdrawal totals. Cash spending is invisible — surfacing it helps you track where the money actually goes.
11
Food delivery
Uber Eats, Menulog, DoorDash, and Deliveroo spend totalled and annualised. See the true yearly cost of convenience eating.
12
Unplanned supermarket trips
Three or more trips to the same supermarket in a single week — a pattern linked to impulse purchases. Prompts a shopping list.

FAQ

Good questions.

Is my bank data safe?
CSV files are processed in your browser and never sent to our servers. PDF bank statements are parsed server-side (for text extraction) then immediately discarded. Your transaction data lives only in your device's local storage. When we launch open banking via Basiq, your bank credentials are handled by Basiq (an ASIC-licenced CDR data recipient) — we receive read-only data via secure API.
Does this use AI or Claude?
No. Trimm uses a fully deterministic, rules-based scanner — no AI, no Claude, no external API calls per scan. This means it's fast (under 1 second), reproducible, and your data never leaves your device for analysis. The detection rules are hand-crafted for Australian banks and subscription services.
What banks and file formats are supported?
The CSV parser auto-detects columns for CBA, ANZ, Westpac, NAB, Macquarie, ING, and most other Australian banks. We also accept PDF bank statements — we auto-detect the bank and extract transactions automatically. Look for 'Export', 'Download', or 'Statement' in your bank's transaction history view.
What if a finding is wrong?
Every finding has a 'Not a leak' button — clicking it dismisses that finding and removes it from your total. The scanner is conservative by design, but false positives happen. Use your judgement.
How much does it cost?
Trimm is completely free during the labs phase. We're building it out and testing with real users before deciding on a business model. Our goal is to save you far more than we'd ever charge.
How is this different from my bank's app?
Your bank categorises transactions but won't tell you when you're paying for something you don't use, paying twice for the same service, or being charged more than you were originally. That's a conflict of interest — they benefit from your inertia. Trimm doesn't.
